In Norway, Toyota Motor Corp. is going from one electric-powered model to five to better compete with Tesla Inc., fuel stations are ripping out pumps to make space for chargers, and even nursing homes in the rural interior have switched to battery-powered cars despite months of arctic cold. All are signs of the dramatic shift that has put the Nordic country on the cusp of becoming the first market in the world to all but eliminate sales of new combustion-powered cars. “It’s cold here, there are mountains, long distances to drive,” Yngve Slyngstad, the former head of Norway’s $1.8 trillion sovereign wealth fund, said on the way to his electric car in downtown Oslo. “There are so many reasons EVs shouldn’t have been a success here, and yet we’ve done it.” It’s a transition that happened with remarkable speed. While there have long been incentives to encourage EV purchases — mainly to promote short-lived domestic upstarts — adoption only started to accelerate in recent years, as a greater variety of cars became available. Once an inflection point was reached, the ramp-up was rapid.

Entdeckung der Woche - Electric Revolution

Wer seit ein paar Monaten immer wiedermal einen Rocksender hört ist in dieser Zeit garantiert nicht an Greta Van Fleet vorbei gekommen. Die Band aus Michigan haben den Classic Rock mit frischem Wind belebt ohne Zweifel und damit auch anderen Bands den Weg geebnet. Eine dieser Bands ist meine Entdeckung der Woche. Sie nennen sich Electric Revolution und kommen ebenfalls aus Amerika. Auch sie revolutioneren zwar nicht wie es der Namen andeuten lässt den Classic Rock aber lassen an allen Ecken und Kanten ihre Einflüsse einspielen. Besonders gut zu hören bei Burn It Down, ihrer letzten Single.

Als ich den Song das erste Mal reingezogen habe diese Woche, dachte ich erst da kommt eine weiter Coverversion von Radar Love daher. Diesen Groove bekommt man nicht alle Tage zu Ohren. Ist aber clever gewählt wie ich finde, den genau weil es irgendwie so bekannt ist, hört man dann auch hin. Sänger Dave Lawson erinnert an den seeligen Lemmy, aber auch Disturbed’s David Draiman oder eine Spur Deep Purple ist zu finden.

Vergleiche sucht man halt einfach wenn etwas Neues daher kommt, aber ich denke Electric Revolution sollten sich Fans von bodenständig dreckigem Rock’n’Roll der auch ganz gut als Soundtrack zu Sons Of Anarchy gepasst hätte auf den Radar nehmen.
